OUR STORY
Glaze is a paint-your-own pottery studio in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Glaze's goal is to make ceramic art projects accessible to everyone and to help you show off your individual style. Shop for pieces to paint and find inspiration for your creative work online, then paint your unique piece in your own safe space in as much time as you need.

Many of the ceramic pieces sold by Glaze were created from plaster molds that were manufactured 20-60 years ago! During the 1970's and 80's pouring molds and painting ceramic pieces was a popular craft. Folks would come together in small groups in someone's basement shop and glaze while they gossiped. When the craft fell out of favor, these independent ceramic shops closed, and huge collections of these fabulous molds were stored in basements and sheds for decades. It's these molds, and the amazing pottery they produce, that Glaze is most interested in bringing to a new generation that appreciates vintage style.

Glaze owner, Tobi Hollander, is a photographer and creative artist who loves working in clay, glazes, tie dye and batik. She is passionate about making creativity approachable and supporting people in expressing themselves. Tobi’s interest in painted ceramics started as a young girl when her mother operated a basement ceramic shop. Through Glaze, Tobi helps people combine vintage and contemporary style.
